Pelican Racing launch City Sailing Racing Challenge for 2010
Today (27/11/09) Pelican Racing announced the inaugural City Racing Challenge for 2010. The company that brings you hassle free racing is hosting this new exciting event, inviting London’s city workers to swap their spreadsheet for a jib sheet and compete against their competitors on the water.
The event will involve four heats where teams can compete within their own business sector; there will be four divisions; Insurance & Asset Management, Legal, Banking, and IT. The season will kick off in April, culminating in the grand final event in September, where the winning three teams from each heat test their sailing skills, precision and teamwork on the Solent onboard fully race fitted Laser SB3 sportsboats. Teams can leave behind the rat race and show their business competitors what they are made of!

Every aspect of the racing will be organised by Cowes based Pelican Racing and hosted by the Island Sailing Club.
Pelican Racing are the home of hassle free sailing, they own 13 identical SB3 Sportsboats, providing a viable and cost effective solution to traditional boat ownership. Pelican Racing was formed out of a desire to get people into sailing on great boats without having to buy and look after their own. Many people feel there is no other opportunity to get into this sport than to buy a boat, and then face the running costs of keeping it race ready throughout the season. Pelican Racing hope to open the world of sailing to a wider audience using the Laser SB3’s as a platform without all the inherent pressures of boat ownership.
